Look After Yourself Too (Energetic Boundaries)

A little while ago my outrageous Grandma turned to me and said:

“You love yourself don’t you?”

At first I thought she was being a little snide!

I felt judged!

Until she explained further:

“You with your essential oils, and your long baths…You love yourself don’t you?”

Yes I do.

Loving myself has been something I have had to learn, and yes it includes physical aspects such as pampering myself, but it also includes being very mindful of my energy.

Keeping our energetic boundaries in place is an act of self-love.

Looking after ourselves makes us more available to look after others.

This can be as simple as a 5 minute meditation before you start your day, a 30 minute walk, or a bath at the end of a long day.

It can be a cup of tea on your own.

At this time, when we are all lock-downed with family/ housemates/ friends, or even if we are by ourselves, energetic boundaries become even more important.

This virus has let us know that there is only so much we can physically do to help another, without harming ourselves.

It calls for protective measures.

Can we follow these same principles energetically?

Can we work to understand that we have to give to ourselves as well as giving to others, for the good of us all?

Can we maintain a little of our energy each day for us?

Something to think about right?

Something that might be very hard to think about at a time when we it is integral that we look after others.

But please, please look after yourself too.
