Lately I have been coming across many people wishing to write 2020 off as a blip.
As if it were something to get past as soon as possible.
A bit like 2016. Prince and David Bowie died, and we wondered why icons of our popular society were leaving the earth.
Hardship, death and chaos are not things that we need to rush to put behind us.
These are the things that no life can skip.
2021 will be built on what 2020 leaves behind, so there is no sense in wishing the rest of this year away.
We have got to live it. Feel it. Heal it.
Subsequent years are going to be tough.
The only way forward is to maintain a sense of being present or we risk waking up in years to come wondering how we got there.
It is hard staying present when things are not the way we want them to be.
The benefits however outweigh this discomfort.
Being present helps us to be grateful for the good times; like a picnic in the park, good weather, a delicious meal.
Being present helps us to adjust. We change with change as it comes.
Being present means we can realistically prepare for what is to come from a place of knowing exactly where we are right now.
So please – don’t cancel 2020.
Much love Txx
